Tutorial T1

T1: The subjectivity that we bring to risk analysis and how we can neutralise it

Thursday 25th September, 9:00 - 12:30

Tutorial Leader

Felix Redmill (UK)

Description

Felix will demonstrate how, without realising it, we bring subjectivity to all aspects of risk analysis and risk management - and, indeed, to all decision making. He will cover all stages of the process and provide examples. He will explain the psychological mechanisms by which biases are created in us, so that we can be aware of our own subjective influences. He will also consider the measures that we can take to neutralise them at all stages of risk analysis and management. The tutorial will be enlightening to both practitioners and academics at all levels of safety engineering and management.
